Meet Nana

Not long after I had Logan, I was introduced to (or stumbled upon) a Website called Reece's Rainbow. Reece's Rainbow is an adoption ministry who helps fund-raise money for the adoption of children with Down syndrome and other special needs internationally.

If not adopted, these children have little chance of living. I am amazed and shocked at the images I have seen over the past two years of what these children of God must endure. You see, if they are not adopted (usually by the age of 4-7), they are sent to live the rest of their lives in a mental institution. Most only survive about one year after they are transferred to the institution. The conditions, unspeakable. Should we turn our heads and pretend not to see? If they were here in the United States lying on the sidewalk dying would you walk past them or would you help? What would God expect of us? Some will say that there are too many to help and we can't rescue them all, but does that mean that we should not at least do what we can? Our earthly possessions and comforts (big screens, fancy cars, gourmet coffee, etc) amount to nothing when we arrive at the Gates of Heaven.

My heart is moved and unsettled over these sweet angels that have a common thread to my baby boy. I can't help but love them~cry for them~pray for them.

Reece's Rainbow raises some serious money and works hard to help families bring these children into loving homes. This Christmas season, I am going to help raise money for one of these special children.

Meet Nana:

This is her most recent photo - Be Still My Heart!

This is Nana's photo from last year

Nana was born in January 2010 and although her parents are probably alive, she lives in an orphanage in Russia...because she has Down syndrome. I think she is just a piece of handcrafted perfection!

Wouldn't it be great if this year could be her last year as an orphan? I am a Christmas Warrior for Nana and my goal is to raise $1000 (OR MORE) for her adoption between November 1st and December 31st. Are you willing to help me, help Nana?

All you have to do is click here or on her picture to the right of the page to donate toward her adoption fund. Scroll down to her picture and click on donate. Any person who donates $35 or more to her fund will receive a beautiful Christmas ornament with her picture on it. What a way to show love for an orphan over the holidays! You will then have the ornament and remember to pray for her every time you see her face.

The ornament will look like this and have her picture on the other side:

Imagine that after we raise this money a loving family decides to take her out of the orphanage and bring her to a real home!! $1000 is only a fraction of the money that is costs to adopt (around $30,000) but it is $1000 closer to SAVING.A.LIFE. This is serious. It really is saving a child's life. There is just no other way to put it.

What are you willing to give up over the next few days, weeks, months to help save her life? One cup of coffee per week? One dinner out this month? Please consider a sacrifice to make a donation and please pray for this sweet angel girl with me.Over the next two months this will be my mission and I thank you for considering a donation.

Please make sure that you go to the Angel Tree page and make your donation to Nana (or any other child that pulls at your heart). They all need a family.

One last thing, will you please share this post or a link to Reece's Rainbow with your friends via email or Facebook? The more people we share this with, the faster we can raise money to find a family for Nana and create awareness of this beautiful and loving ministry.

I pray that you are Blessed and that you are a Blessing to others!

  2. Erika ~ Thank you, my friend! You are right...every bit does count. In fact, a $5 donation means NO LESS to me than a $500 donation. It really is more about the kindness and love that is shown for God's children.
